NY LON, 02 Arena Review
Can’t fly to the US for Thanksgiving? Not to worry, NY LON have got you sorted.
I recently paid a visit to New York and London themed lounge bar NY LON located within the O2. The bar celebrates the Virgin Atlantic and Delta Air Lines (the official airline partners of the O2) NY to London route.
I took along my friend Natalie as it combines two of our favourite things – travelling and cocktails. Natalie has travelled on Virgin/Delta a number of times and said her visit made her feel like she was jetting back to the US again.
We began our evening at the stylish aviation themed bar with a cocktail each. The cocktails at NY LON are the real stars of the show and we both agreed they were some of the tastiest we had ever had.
I went to the Slipstream (left) which is a mix of Sipsmith vodka, apple juice, lemon agave nectar, egg white and Galliano liquer. The perfect cocktail for those with a sweet tooth, as it tastes and smells just like apple pie! Natalie went for the Flying Lady. A concoction of Grey Goose L’Orange vodka, limoncello, Regan’s orange bitters, lime and cranberry. Perfect for those who like traditional cocktails with a twist.

I loved that the tables had these service buttons just like on the aeroplane. But it was a bit embarrassing that once we pressed it the light above us began flashing and we got a few looks from other diners! Also it took about four pushes before a host noticed us but still, I thought the idea was pretty cool.
Choosing dishes was hard as everything on NY LON‘s menu looked so appetising. They have a great selection of American as well as British dishes so we decided to mix and match.
From the small plates menus we went for London cured salmon and potato salad, Heirloom tomato, avocado & courgette tartare with sourdough toast and Chorizo meatballs. Between the small plates it was hard to choose as favourite as they were all equally wonderful. They were very filling and the perfect sized small dishes to graze on alongside the cocktails.
We also went for cheese board from the sharing board menus. We were amazed by the size of it when it arrived! It was filled with Goat’s curd (my favourite), Lord London and Binham blue cheeses with dried fruits and chutney.
Everything was so beautiful presented including flowers on the salmon and goats cheese for decoration – we were very impressed!

The atmosphere was warm and inviting and the staff were so friendly and chatty.
NY LON is a different and fresh idea to London. Also why not save money on flights and visit New York in London instead? The decor is glamorous and chic, probably the closest I’ll ever get to that first class flight feeling and I get to avoid the hassle of airports and sky high prices!
We had such a great time that we are returning later this week for their Thanksgiving menu. Dishes include Honey and brandy slow roasted turkey medallions; Slow roasted apples, Beurre noisette confit Brussels sprouts and Maldon sautée chestnuts.
When leaving we were presented with two for one vouchers, so of course we returned. I think NY LON may now be our new local.
Also members of the airlines’ frequent flyer programmes, Flying Club and SkyMiles, receive a range of discounts and special offers (very jealous).
