Kopparberg Urban Forest
I visited Kopparberg Urban Forest in Hackney Wick.
Last weekend we celebrated the longest weekend of the year and Summer Solstice at Kopparberg Urban Forest. A proper Scandi weekend full of Kopparberg cider (including frozen cider), amazing food and hair braiding.
As well as trying a few old favourites, Naked Apple and Strawberry & Lime, I also got to sample the Nordic Berry Kopparberg and the new frozen Kopparbergs which were both sweet and very refreshing. The perfect bevvies for a summers day chilling with friends which cost £5 each.
The selection of food at the Urban Forest is amazing. Street food vendors include Buffalo Joe’s, Mama’s Jerk, Hackney Pearl and Le Bun. I went for the Duck Frites burger at Le Bun (£7.50) which is probably, for the moment anyway, the best burger I have ever had. You can tell by my face in the photo below how beautiful it was, I didn’t want it to end!
The Urban Forest is beautiful decorated, full of flowers and woodland bars with lots of seating areas including an upstairs area to chill in.
And like the Kopparberg advert, there were really were few Kopparbeards there too!
I had ‘Kopparbraids’ styled in my hair by top floral stylist Lara Sanjar and the celebrity acclaimed The Braid Bar. Braids are so on trend this season so it was great to finally have my hair done.
I felt like I had just stepped out of a 90s girl band…
Karl was a bit jealous so he decided to have his hair done too.
(I’ll put up an outfit post soon!)
Kopparberg Urban Forest is a great place just to sit and relax with a wide variety of drinks (there’s cocktails if you aren’t a cider fan!) with a DJ playing all day. I felt so chilled, it was just the break I needed after a busy week at work. I felt like I had escaped to Sweden for the weekend (after reading Stylist magazine this week it’s definitely on my to do list!)
As well as bringing a touch of Scandinavian atmosphere to East London the Kopparberg Urban Forest is proving beneficial to the local area. Kopparberg is working closely with local residents throughout the event including Hackney Wick’s Yard Theatre. Kopparberg Urban Forest is selling a bespoke cocktail (Hard Yard) that sees £1 donated to the theatre with each drink.
The Urban Forest is also introducing local food vendors as well as working with local artists, musicians, and carpenters which is pretty awesome!
The Kopparberg Urban Forest is only there until 12 July so you better get there quick and especially now the weather has turned so nice!
Luckily it only began to pour down as we left!
Acts coming up include Miss Dynamite, Slow Club, Submotion, Orchestra, Citizens! and The Cuban Brothers and DJs Chromeo, and Trevor Nelson. There will also be an appearance from a few Scandinavian artists including Heart/Dancer and Summer Heart.
Entry to Kopparberg Urban Forest is free and open to over 18s only every Wednesday to Sunday, opening times are as follows:
Wednesday – Friday: 4pm-11.00pm
Saturday – Sunday: 12pm-11.00pm
Thank you Karl Cowell for the wonderful photos!
