K West Hotel Review
Updated: Dec 28, 2019
I visited London’s coolest celebrity hangout.
K West Hotel & Spa oozes with style and has showbiz written all over it.
The hotel was formerly the BBC Building Kensington House in the 60s therefore it has an endless list of Rock ‘N’ Roll royalty who have stayed, played (and of course, misbehaved at K West). Household names include Bob Marley and the Wailers, Bowie, The Kinks and Roxy Music.
The hotel is also very popular with celebrities to this day, being so close to Central London and Shepherds Bush Empire, so I was hoping to spot someone during my stay (we did see someone from TOWIE!).
K West Hotel & Spa is located minutes from Westfield City and Shepherds Bush underground station. Despite it’s very central location K West is an urban retreat, it’s quiet, relaxing and the perfect place to escape the bustling city for a bit. Our room was wonderful with an amazing oversized bed and a calming colour scheme. Our room featured a LCD flat screen TVs and tablets to order room service on.
We used this tablet to order breakfast in bed the next year. As you know if you are a regular reader nothing makes me happier than food (more than clothes and lipsticks). There was so much to choose from! With your full english you can choose a starter/side dish (!) of porridge or fruit, there is a range of juices and hot drinks (you can have both), as well as toast with a variety of spreads.
Indulging in a huge breakfast in bed before hitting the shops at Westfield (you can get VIP discount if you stay at K West!) was my idea of heaven.
Last year K West Hotel & Spa brought us the iconic Creme Egg Burger, which went viral! This year they have created The Daim Dog – a sweet brioche roll, encasing the ‘dog’ – a gooey melted Daim Bar, sculpted into a frankfurter shape with Mango and raspberry sauce on top.
The Daim Dogs are priced at £5.50 each, and from 1 March it will be served with their Glam Rock Afternoon Tea which starts from £22.50. The Glam Rock Afternoon Tea has to be the hottest afternoon tea in London. You swap traditional tea for tea infused cocktails and it’s available in the afternoon from 2-6pm, and with cocktails from 10pm until 1am.
The hotel’s decor is inspired by its rich music heritage. As you enter the hotel The Studio Bar is to the right where you can get some Rock ‘N’ Roll style cocktails including six signature Bourbon Whiskey Cocktails, plus the quirky K West special ‘Pickleback’ shot of Jack Daniels whiskey accompanied with a shot of pickle juice. Every Friday and Saturday, top DJs play from 10pm until 2am.
Above the Bar is Studio Kitchen is a restaurant with an urban New York vibe. The menu offers a range of US style dishes including Green Chilli Cheese Burger, Buttermilk Chicken Burger and Truffled Mac & Cheese.
The hotel is also home to K Spa which has been awarded ‘Best Spa in London’ at the Good Spa Guide Awards 2015.
K Spa is as quirky as the hotel itself, the spa introduced the first ‘Snow Paradise’ to London. This mimics the Finnish experience of alternating between freezing and steamy environments. The spa also has a ‘Sun Meadow’ which offers specialist light therapy to treat SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) – perfect for this time of year! The spa also has a hydrotherapy pool, sanarium, sauna, dry flotation tank, aromatic herbal steam room and the fully equipped K Fit gymnasium.
Prices start from £125 per room per night, and the K Suites are from £540 per night including VAT. Spa packages are also available and include overnight accommodation and treatments.
