Dorsett Shepherds Bush Review

Updated: Dec 28, 2019

Where East meets West at the luxurious Dorsett Shepherds Bush

We recently stayed at Dorsett Shepherds Bush and it was absolute heaven.

From the office to this cosy dressing gown in my stunning executive room in 15 minutes. I could get used to that…

Cheery staff, a very quick and smooth check in and being informed that we had been upgraded to an Executive room was just what I needed after a very long and tiring day.

As we entered our room we were blown away by our the beautiful gold decor.

We had a dinner reservation for 7.30pm so had plenty of time to get ready and take advantage of Jin bar’s cocktail happy hour (between 5-7pm). But once I put on my robe and slippers, I didn’t want to leave the room! It was only the temptation of our dinner at Pictures that I finally obliged to leave at about 7.28.

Our room was directly adjacent to the lifts so within a few steps we went from our room to our table. It was the perfect relaxing evening and just what I needed.

Usually when staying over night in London I like to take advantage of being central and that I can make the most of staying out a bit later! However I didn’t feel like this here, I didn’t want to leave!

The stylish Chinese decor is so relaxing and the bed was one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in.

The room is very spacious and there was fresh fruit and water waiting for us as well as tea and coffee making facilities. Our room had a living area with a sofa bed, table and a dressing table with a large mirror. In the second room there was a king size bed with another large window with great natural lighting.

There were plenty of mirrors too which hotels often lack but are vital for us girls when getting ready!

For entertainment there is a 37″ LCD TV in each room, a docking station and free wifi.

Our bathroom had bath and shower facilities with luxury bath amenities, cosy gown and slippers each as well as a sink each.

The room is filled with intricate details which all has a Chinese style of decor to it, there’s a reoccurring bird theme throughout.

There’s classy gold designs and an elegant bedside light resembling a small tree trunk with a bird. It’s the little details which really add a trendy style to the hotel and it’s all very relaxing, you’ll feel so chilled out.

I wish I could move in!

Dorsett is located right next door to Shepherds Bush Empire and just minutes away from Westfield. It’s very close to Shepherds Bush station where you can take the central line a few stops into the West End or the overground to go all across London. Despite its central location, it is very quiet and we had an amazing sleep.

I’m not a huge coffee drink but I had try out the Lavazza machine haha! 😉

The hotel is Grade II listed building and boasts 317 Chinese inspired bedrooms and suites and also offers a choice of two sumptuous restaurants – Pictures and Shikumen. (Review of Pictures coming soon!)

There is also Adeela Crown Aesthetic Spa for indulgent treatments, a 24 hour fitness centre and a bar, Jin.

The lobby is huge and looks spectacular with so much detail in the gold, brown and glass decor.

The hotel is gorgeously designed and below you can see the rooms above Jin Bar amongst the very impressive gold panelling. You can’t help and stop to admire this impressive structure for a while!

The lobby is also filled with velvet arm chairs and mirrored coffee tables. I really liked the camera lights which were dotted around.

Before heading to work the next morning, we stopped by Pictures restaurant again for breakfast. There’s a huge variety to choose from including fresh muffins and pastries and everything there to create your own full English breakfast. There’s even a nod to the Chinese style to the hotel with authentic Chinese food on offer. That’s the first time I had noodles for breakfast and I’m sure it won’t be the last. (It was the perfect prep for our trip to China next month!)

Our stay was completely flawless and so relaxing, I felt like I had escaped London for a while and fallen into a zen-like state. I’ll definitely be considering stopping by again when staying overnight in the city.

Prices start from approx. £140 per room per night. For reservations and enquiries visit www.dorsetthotels.com/unitedkingdom/london/shepherdsbush/.
