Bottomless Brunch at Avenue, St James

One of my favourite things to do on a weekend is go for brunch, especially bottomless brunch. We are spoilt for choice for bottomless brunch venues in London so I checked out Avenue to see what made them stand out from the rest

Avenue is located in St James close to Trafalgar Square and Piccadilly Circus. We walked to the restaurant from Victoria station which was a lovely walk taking us past Buckingham Palace.

Avenue has a very sophisticated and elegant style, the restaurant is filled with stunning glass ware including a quirky wine glass chandelier. There was a great vibe throughout the whole restaurant with tables filled with happy diners enjoying bottomless brunch. We immediately felt welcome and very relaxed. I fell in love with Avenue as soon as I walked in.

Avenue serves up Asian and American influenced dishes and offers brunch every Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 4pm. It costs £26.50 for two courses and £29.50 for three courses, you can include unlimited Bloody Mary’s and Bubbles for an additional £18 per person.

I was very impressed by the large selection of drinks on offer behind the bar…so of course had to take a few photos!

We opted for bottomless Prosecco with our brunch…obviously. Throughout our visit our glasses were regularly topped up with which I was very impressed with. I’ve been to a few brunches where you often have to keep reminding your server that you would like another drink or you have to finish the glass before you are able to order another (I’m not greedy I promise). Yet here throughout our two hour slot our glasses were never left dry.

Although Avenue is upmarket and offers a five star service, it’s a very chilled out venue. The restaurant is full of personality and isn’t intimidating at all. In my opinion, it really is the perfect bottomless brunch venue.

I was also really impressed by the music too, they were playing a mixture of pop music from classics like Britney Spears and Backstreet Boys to current UK chart hits. It felt like they were playing my Spotify making me feel even more at home. Prosecco on tap and cheesy pop hits, what’s not to love!?

We opted for three courses and both ordered avocado dishes to start. Karl ordered Poached Eggs & Crushed Avocado on Toasted Sourdough while I indulged in Toasted Sourdough with Feta, Avocado, Rocket. We both agreed that these were by far the best avocado on toast dishes we had ever had. This was the first time I’d tried avocado on toast with feta and I was left wondering why I hadn’t made this myself sooner. So simple yet so tasty, now I always have it this way at home.

Before Avenue Karl wasn’t really a fan on avocado on toast but our experience completely changed his mind and now it’s our usual weekend breakfast.

As Avenue offers both Asian and American fare, we decided to go for one dish of each. Karl chose the Asian bowl with Fried Eggs, Fried Rice Balls, Asian Slaw Sticky and Slow Cooked Pork Belly. An impressive dish with an explosion of flavours.

I went for an old favourite, Mac ‘n’ Cheese with Bacon & Spinach. This dish was just perfect. Often I’m disappointed when ordering Mac ‘n’ Cheese as it doesn’t have enough flavour or even enough cheese but not at Avenue. It’s the ideal dish for cheese fanatics like myself.

Avenue offers a variety of other tempting brunch dishes including Rack of Sticky Pork Ribs, Lobster Rolls, Hamburgers, and Southern Fried Buttermilk Chicken. They are now also serving some very delicious sounding sweet and savoury French toast options which I need to return for.

For dessert I chose a light and refreshing Coconut ice cream, something easy to enjoy after two very filling courses. As hoped it was light and refreshing yet still extremely smooth and creamy and very satisfying.

Karl indulged in a slice of the New York Cheesecake with Raspberry Compote. A great dessert dessert to end a great brunch.

Avenue is a fabulous brunch venue. I can’t recommend it enough for bottomless brunch. I need to get back there ASAP…
