April Favourites

A travel special favourites post.

The next six weeks are looking very busy for me, juggling lots of trips as well as work, blogging and freelancing (I’m away in Corfu on a press trip as this post goes live actually!)

So I’ve spent most of April trying to get prepared for my busy few weeks as well as shop for my trips. Here are a few my favourites from April which may also help you if you any upcoming trips.

Too many times now I have been on trips and not really done any research and assumed I would work out what to do once I was there. Although every trip I have been on has been fantastic, I highly recommend doing some research beforehand! Countless times I’ve come back and been asked “did you see xx?” and I had no idea!

So I decided to change that with these travel guides from DK. I’ve been reading Top 10 Stockholm – they have a range of these top 10 books for lots of different cities. These are perfect for easy reading and tips on where to go and there’s also a map included. I’ve now got a clear idea on where I want to shop, drink and where I want to visit. There’s a variety of sections such as ‘Top 10: shops, bars, restaurants, museums and events.

Following Sweden I am heading to Beijing & Shanghai and Tokyo so I also got these travel guides. These books are so helpful as each guide comes with a map of the city as well as a metro map for travelling around each destination. I have no idea where to start in each city and I need to make the most of it as we are travelling so far and I may not get the chance to go again. Each book has a range of itinerary ideas stating what to do and where to go. I can’t recommend these guides enough if you are planning trips, they are so easy and interesting to read with sections on the history of each city as well as plenty of tips on what to pack and what to avoid as well as cost prices for days out and eating so now I have a better idea on how much spending money to bring.

Of course a holiday means you have to treat yourself to new accessories. Some of my favourites I’ve bought this month include these Hindsight Vintage sunglasses from ASOS and Kartel Hume Watch from WatchShop.com.

Trying to time manage work and play can be stressful, and I get stressed easily! So when I do have some spare time I try to chill out from the madness.

I’ve been using this Oil Candle from British design brand Tom Dixon which smells absolutely amazing and I adore the oil holographic rainbow style vase it is in. It looks amazing on my dresser, I love the detailing of the melted edge of the vase and Tom Dixon describe the design as a ‘lustrous effect of petrol on water or a dragonfly wing.’

I recently bought this Swept Away by Wanderlust travel journal from Urban Outfitters at a bargain price in the sale. I used to keep a diary as a child/teenager but now I just seem to use my blog and social media as more of a diary (with the help of Timehop!). But I’m determined to use this travel journal more so I can look back on it in years to come.

Although it’s laid out as a journal for a long backpacking style trip, I’ll be using it for individual trips. It’s full of inspiring quotes, photos, list pages and quirky questions and writing prompts so I won’t be stuck on where to start on each trip.
